Key Information

Project

Our essential question in Year 6 this term is: “Can you ever really ‘win’ a war?”

We will be finding out about the roles of different people during WW1. We will be producing artwork inspired by our learning.

PE

PE lessons will take place on a Wednesday afternoon. Please send your child to school in their PE kit as they will not be able to change at school.

Homework

This term homework will include Reading, Maths and Spellings.

Reading - Your child should read every day at home and record their reading in their orange reading record.

Spelling - Spellings will be given out and tested on a Monday. Fun spelling games linked to the spelling lists will be set each week on Spelling Shed – your child should play a few games on spelling shed most days.

Maths - Maths games for key skills will also be set on Maths Shed. Children are also expected to use TTRockstars to practise their times tables several times a week. We will occasionally set tournaments on TTRockstars so that the children can have class competitions.

All passwords for these games are written on the inside front cover of their reading records and they all know how to log on. Please let us know if you have difficulty accessing these games.

SATs - This year, Year 6 will sit the SATs and regular homework leading up to the tests will help to prepare the children.
